Most elementary students are familiar with the overarching concept of a 3D shape. After all, these objects are to be found everywhere in our immediate environments! Think of household items such as books, cans of soda, boxes of food, balls, and so on. But do they know the mathematical names of these familiar objects? Some students may, but the vast majority probably don’t!

This engaging digital activity has been designed to support your students to recognize and name familiar three-dimensional shapes in the environment.
Students are presented with an image of an object from the real world, along with three possible names of what that 3D shape is called. When they choose the correct answer, students are provided with a list of properties for that 3D object.
